Care Guides

We all need a little TLC to keep us as good as new, and your beautiful new Fairfax & Favor investment is no different.

Ada

Wool

COMPOSITION

80% Wool, 20% polyamide

CARE RECOMMENDATIONS

Please note: We currently do not recommend any products for regular care of the Wool.

CLEANING RECOMMENDATIONS

Not in the washing machine please!
We recommend gently wiping with a soft and damp sponge to remove dried dirt or marked fibres. Allow the product to air dry completely before storing or using it again. Avoid aggressive detergents or rubbing with abrasive materials.

For tougher stains we recommend Specialist Dry Clean only using Green Earth/Siloxane.

MAINTENANCE RECOMMENDATIONS

Store away from heat, damp, and direct sunlight. Where possible, store in their dustbags and the blue box provided for additional protection. To protect and keep the wool fresh, store it with lavender sachets, cedarwood chips, or cotton balls lightly soaked in tea tree oil, as these help repel moths. Lay the Ada flat if possible; otherwise, use a broad hanger instead of the decorative loop to help prevent wrinkles.

After several wears, you may notice some bobbling, which is a natural characteristic of wool. This is not covered by warranty, as it is considered normal wear and tear.

Alice

Nubuck & Toscana

COMPOSITION

Luxurious soft nubuck with toscana collar

CARE RECOMMENDATIONS

Once you’ve used your Alice a bit, you can treat it with either Suede & Nubuck Protector once a month or Liquiproof Premium Protector every couple of months – more often if you’re using a lot.

Spray the Suede & Nubuck Protector lightly and apply sparingly section by section, brushing it in with a soft brush until the nubuck has been covered.

Always read the directions of the care product, and test on an inconspicuous area first. Fairfax & Favor cannot be held responsible for improper use of care or cleaning products. For any concerns, please contact our Customer Service team.

CLEANING RECOMMENDATIONS

Not in the washing machine, please!
Remove dried dirt or marked fibres using a soft suede brush, brushing gently. If it’s still dirty, use Liquiproof Eco Cleaner on light marks but dilute it heavily in warm water.

If the Alice becomes wet, leave to dry naturally and brush. If anything else gets onto your Alice, soak it up immediately and then wipe over with a lightly damp, neutral-coloured microfibre cloth.

MAINTENANCE RECOMMENDATIONS

Store away from heat, damp, and direct sunlight. Where possible, store in their dustbags and the blue box provided for additional protection. Lay flat if possible otherwise use a broad hangar instead of the decorative loop, this will help prevent creasing.

If the Alice becomes wet, let it hang dry out of the wardrobe. Once dry, rub over with a light sponge to smooth and level out the pile again.

Please Note: Coloured nubuck can transfer with wear onto other fabrics and leave a mark. Likewise, dark coloured fabrics (like denim!) can also transfer onto coloured nubuck products. This is perfectly normal and won't be covered under our warranty.

CARE RECOMMENDATIONS

A high tech lifestyle piece that will keep you warm and dry in style. Part of the Fairfax and Favor luxury edit, this product benefits from a BR2 10k waterproof rating. A layer of top quality PrimaLoft® BLACK Eco insulation protects against bitterly cold temperatures when your feet are firmly on land.

Musto treats the waterproof garments BR2 products, with a durable water repellent (DWR) treatment. This polymer prevents the garment outer fabric from being saturated with water. Wear and tear, salt, dirt or repeated washing can wear off the DWR treatment. Your garment may even appear to be leaking because the waterlogged outer is reducing the jacket’s breathability, creating condensation on the inside. When this happens, or to prevent this from happening, you will need to re-treat your product. We recommend you treat your garment only when the DWR performance begins to lower - it does not have to be after every single wash. You can test the DWR performance by sprinkling water on the fabric. If the water beads up and rolls off, the DWR does not need renewing. Reproofing will avoid you getting an uncomfortable wet out feeling that can rapidly put an end to your day out.

Musto recommends Granger’s Performance Repel or Clothing Wash and Repel to renew the DWR. Please follow the instructions on the re-proofing product.

Sadie

Waxed Cotton

CARE RECOMMENDATIONS

Halley Stevensons Dry Wax cotton, cracks, creases and patinas, which is part of its beautiful character. This finish is a combination of their driest wax and soft aero tumbling. This emulsified wax finish is perfect for lightweight breathable and weather repellent garments.

Naturally through wear, the wax will gradually come off the fabric. Depending on the usage you will start to notice some fading in areas revealing the original dyed shade of fabric (applying wax darkens the dyed shade). This is due to the wax rubbing against itself and from movement (i.e. at the elbows).

You can treat your waxed cotton Sadie with Halley Stevensons Reproofing Spray once wear starts to show. Always read the directions of the care product, and test on an inconspicuous area first. Fairfax & Favor cannot be held responsible for improper use of care or cleaning products. For any concerns, please contact our Customer Service team.
