Every season starts with a spark of inspiration. Our Design Team researches global trends, explores our brand archive, and draws from everything from runway shows to countryside events. We review past bestsellers and customer favourites, ensuring that each collection reflects both evolving style and lasting appeal.
These ideas are translated into mood boards that set the tone for the season-defining the colour stories, key shapes, and character of the collection. Whether it’s a structured bag or a statement boot, every piece begins with a clear creative vision.

Materials & Colour Development
Material selection is a key part of the design journey. We carefully choose leathers, suedes, linings, and fabrics for their texture, tone, and durability. From smooth full-grain leather to brushed cotton twill, materials must not only look beautiful, they must feel right and wear well.
Colour stories evolve in tandem with the designs. We explore palettes that complement the season’s mood, blending rich classics with fresh new shades. Every hue is chosen to enhance the product’s character and work seamlessly across the full collection.

Crafting Shape & Identity
With the concept in place, our designers begin shaping the forms that define each product. For footwear, we work from our extensive library of lasts, or create entirely new silhouettes in collaboration with master last makers. For bags and outerwear, proportions, trims, and fastenings are sketched and refined to balance beauty and function.
Signature elements, like our removable tassels, embossed shields, or elegant quilting, are integrated from the start. These details help unify the collection while giving each product its own identity.

Once the concept is finalised, we hand-pick the right factory, chosen for their skill, tooling, and shared commitment to quality. The Design team then creates a detailed specification, outlining every element of the piece: from stitch length and CAD sketches to artwork for bespoke embroidery. It’s this rigorous attention to detail that ensures every product earns its place in the Fairfax & Favor collection.
