We’ve teamed up with Stevenson brothers to bring you this special prize, a limited edition Fairfax and Favor rocking horse. When our co-founder Marcus Fairfax Fountaine was two-years-old, his grandmother commissioned a Stevenson Brothers rocking horse for him. 27 years on, we’re proud to launch the Fairfax & Favor collectors’ rocking horse, made again by the legendary craftsmen.

Created in tulip wood and mounted on an English oak safety stand, it has nickel fittings, is tacked in English leather to match our Regina Boot and our Fairfax & Favor logo is embroidered on the woollen Numnah. You’ll also find a secret, locking compartment and at four feet high it can be ridden by children and by grown-up children!

Stevenson Brothers, the rocking horse makers, launched their brand in 1982, Twin Brothers Marc & Tony always knew they would work together as they were growing up in the bush and beaches of Kenya in the 1950’s.

“The inspiration behind our business was our uncle James Bosworthick and our father, who were Naval Shipwrights in the Chatham Dockyard. Uncle James made toys and rocking horses and we always thought one day we would be given one to share”.

After moving back to England in the late 1960’s, the wooden rocking horse we had always hoped for, unfortunately, never appeared but an apprenticeship was offered instead. Both of us had an art background and Tony had time in a Sawmill locally, which supplied the wood for the early horses. Our first workshop was on our sister’s farm in Kingsnorth in 1982 and within a year we’d moved to Bethersden where we are today.

We decided we would revive the art of rocking horse making and aimed to be the best makers in the world. Having made over 9000 rocking horses for discerning customers all over the world we are very proud of our heritage and have a wonderful clientele who appreciate the best of British craftsmanship.
