You outdid yourselves! Really. With the power of the Fairfax & Favor community and a little bit of pink, we have managed to raise £125,466 for Breast Cancer Now.

Let’s say that again: in 2020 alone, Fairfax & Favor has raised one hundred and twenty-five thousand four hundred sixty-six pounds to fight breast cancer. Not only is this the largest amount that we have raised in a single year with our BCN campaign, it is also more than we’ve raised over the last five years combined. Our grand total is now up to £224,655 in six years.

And we pink(ie) promise you, we’re just getting started.

So How Did Pink Do it?

We want to thank each and every one of you who bought something from our 2020 Breast Cancer Now range.

Our pink Heeled Reginas and our pink Signature Caps sold out in minutes. Our BCN Pink Tassels flew off the shelves, into delivery boxes, and through your letterboxes. And as you know, 100% of the profits from each of these gorgeous items goes to BCN. So every time you strolled down the street with your pink tassels swishing, you were also fighting a disease that affects 1 in 7 women in the UK.

We adore the fact that classic British Style can do good whilst looking this fabulous:

Why Breast Cancer?

Fairfax & Favor may have been founded by two men, but both Felix and Marcus grew up surrounded by strong and marvellous women. And both Felix and Marcus had grandmothers who were diagnosed with breast cancer.

Marcus’ grandmother, Muriel Oliver, passed away from breast cancer in 1995. As a 5-year-old, Marcus remembers thinking that he was her favourite grandchild because both of their names began with M (which seems totally logical). Thanks to her, he still loves to go for a swim in Brancaster Staithe and then have afternoon tea to warm up.

Both of Felix’s grandmothers were diagnosed with breast cancer. Tania Parker went through successful radiotherapy when she was only 30 years old. Most of her family didn’t know about it for years since she didn’t want to be made a fuss of. Felix’s other grandmother Joy had her own operation only a month ago. She’s recovering now and is swamped with love and support from family.

So you can tell that fighting breast cancer is personal for us.

But fighting breast cancer is also a cause close to our hearts because it’s a cause close to your hearts. Did you know that over 70% of the Fairfax & Favor customers are women? Not only that, but two thirds of our team are women too.

@thatgirlwiththebob The @fairfaxandfavor pink tassel campaign raising money for @breastcancernow is really personal to me this year as my mum was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this month and has had surgery this week. Thankfully she’s back home now but it’s been a really worrying time made harder as we haven’t been able to visit or hug her…

@somersetcountrygirl Breast cancer has had a devastating affect on my family, as I know it has on many others. When Fairfax & Favor contacted me to help spread awareness, I was more than happy to help this worthwhile cause… So proud to support this fantastic brand and so happy that such a huge amount of money has been raised.

We wouldn’t be who we are without women, and we know that so many of you have your own breast cancer stories. Our goal is to change that.

Breast Cancer Now

Breast Cancer Now (previously Breast Cancer Care) is the largest UK breast cancer charity and funds a third of the research into breast cancer in the UK. Survival has doubled in the past 40 years, largely thanks to all of the vital work that BCN does. But the number of people living with breast cancer in the UK is still estimated to rise from the current 600,000 to 1.2 million in 2030.

This year has been especially damaging for the fight. And this is why our support, always vital, is especially crucial right now.

‘The coronavirus crisis is having a devastating impact on Breast Cancer Now’s ability to deliver the progress and support that so many people affected by breast cancer rely on us for. For months, it put many areas of breast cancer, including our fundraising, on pause. But we know that breast cancer doesn’t stop for anything.

That’s why we are so grateful to Fairfax and Favor for their unwavering support, helping to drive progress for people affected by breast cancer. Since its inception, the partnership has raised more than £220,000 for Breast Cancer Now, a staggering amount that will go a long way in helping to fund our life-changing support and world-class research.

On behalf of Breast Cancer Now, I would like to thank Fairfax and Favor and its customers for their continued support over the last six years, helping us to provide support for today and hope for the future for everyone affected by breast cancer.”
